At Westpac Mussels we have a very hands on approach with our products, to ensure that our Greenshell™Mussels remain sustainable and toxin free. We monitor the mussels we harvest at every step of the supply chain, from spat collection at Ninety Mile beach right through to packing the final processed product at our processing factory in Henderson, Auckland. In doing so, we can ensure their premium quality as one of our planets super foods.
Since Greenshell™Mussels are bivalve molluscan shellfish, we must adhere to rigid testing and monitoring guidelines to ensure that our mussels are maintained under the best possible conditions. As a result, our high standard of quality control is unsurpassed. We go above and beyond all NZ, USFDA and EU Food Safety requirements.
Greenshell™Mussels are known for their great nutritional value. They make an extremely healthy good option, as they are low in fat, calories and cholesterol. Greenshell™Mussels are also a high source of selenium, iron, Vitamin B12, iodine, magnesium and calcium. Research has shown that Omega-3 fatty acids which are found in mussels can be extremely beneficial to overall health. The consumption of Omega-3 has shown a decrease in inflammation, as well as lowering the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer and arthritis.
